Swift was eleven years old when she first performed The Star-Spangled Banner at a Philadelphia 76ers basketball match. The following year Swift began to write songs and got a guitar. Swift, who took her ideas from Shania's music as well as the Dixie Chicks now known as The Chicks in the world of country music, composed the original songs she wrote to express her feelings of alienation.
